Join us for the 2012 Season

The club is now open to new members for the 2012 season.

You don't actually need to be Roger Federer to join, as EWLTC welcomes members of all abilities, ages and backgrounds.

If you fancy taking up something new for 2012 or you are an experienced player looking for a new challenge, come and join us for an exciting tennis season, membership details can be found here

New Courts for 2012!

As members will know, courts 1 & 2 have now reached the end of their natural lives.

The good news is EWLTC will have the two main show courts replaced in time for the start of the new season with modern, state of the art synthetic surfaces.

Annual General Meeting - Tue 24th Jan

ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING 2012

The meeting will be held on Tuesday, 24th January 2012 at 7.30pm in the clubhouse.

Monthly Social Tournaments

The club will be running social tournaments on the second Sunday of each month starting at 12.30pm

This is a good chance to play social tennis with a slightly competitive edge, as the format ensures players mix throughout the day, there is a small charge for entry.

Please try to inform Ted Hulme if you plan to enter, members can also walk-up on the day.

Christmas Social Tennis - Tue 27th Dec

We are planning to arrange a Christmas social tennis day starting at 12.30pm on Tue 27th Dec.

** WE HAD A FANTASTIC EVENT WITH AN AMAZING TURNOUT, WE EVEN HAD ALL SIX COURTS IN USE, THAT'S IN DECEMBER! - THANKS TO ALL THOSE WHO MADE IT **

We may also have a few players from Penketh coming along, and hot food and sandwiches will be served also.

Adult Karate Training - Friday Evenings

Okinawan goju-ryu karate classes for adults have started at East Wavertree Community Association on Friday evenings from 7-9pm.

This is a good chance to develop a new skill and improve fitness by learning Karate.

Winter League Draws Completed

The draw for the Winter Doubles and Mens/Ladies singles leagues have now been made.

All matches can be played at anytime on or prior to the deadline date of Sunday 1st April 2012, and will played according to standard league format, i.e. championship tie-breaks will determine a third set.

Monday Night Table Tennis

Table Tennis is played in the pavilion at 6.30pm each Monday Evening.

Entrance is free to all members.

Sunday Breakfast Club

Now that the league season has finished, match practice no longer takes place on Sundays.

However, all members are still encouraged to come along to the Sunday Breakfast Club as many members continue to play on a Sunday Morning from 10.00am.

2011 Tony Edwards Memorial Trophy

The Tony Edwards memorial trophy took place on Saturday 4th June 2011.

A great day with fantastic weather was had by all, followed by an evening barbecue.

Junior Tennis Coaching Programme

EWLTC now offers a comprehensive Junior Tennis Coaching Programme on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays, which is open to both members and non-members (Ages 4-16)

Monday Evening is Junior Evening

Juniors are encouraged to come down to the club on Monday Evenings to enjoy a game of tennis against fellow Juniors. You can also ask adult players to give up a court for your use as Juniors have priority. Organised Junior Evenings will run from Monday, 23rd May 2011 and will begin at 6 pm.

May Day Bank Holiday Tennis Weekend

The club is hosting a Bank Holiday Tennis Festival on the Royal Wedding/May Day Bank Holiday Weekend (Fri 29th Apr - Sun 1st May)

Friday 29th April

2.00pm - Social Tennis

6.00pm - Social Drink + Take Away Food (Pizza etc.) + T.V. themed Quiz



Saturday 30th April

12.00pm - "Fun" Coaching Games/Coaching Forum delivered by Ian Malabar.

2.00pm - Social Tournament Semis and Finals

8.00pm - Meal at Eton Place restaurant on Woolton Rd. (please reserve a place by Sat 23rd April)

EWLTC achieves Tennis Clubmark

EWLTC has recently been awarded Clubmark status by the LTA.

Any club that has been awarded Clubmark has achieved minimum operating standards in safeguarding and protecting children, quality coaching, equal opportunities and good management.
