EAST WAVERTREE LAWN TENNIS SECTION

 

MEMBERSHIP REGULATIONS as at 7th March 2007

 

1) Tennis can be played throughout the year. Members can obtain keys to the gates for access and the large pavilion for changing facilities and toilets from the Club Captain (Val Freeman). The changing facilities and toilets in the clubhouse are only available for use when the bar is officially open or when it is opened by a Member of the Tennis Committee.

 

Members can not remain in the Clubhouse unless there is a Member of the Tennis Committee on duty otherwise it is locked.

 

The bar is normally open from 7.30 pm to 11.00 pm Monday to Friday, 1.30 pm to 5.00 pm Saturday and 11.30 am to 5.00 pm Sunday from April to September.

 

Please note the licensee (Phil Duke) is automatically delegated the legal responsibilities of controlling the bar supplying intoxicating liquor.

2) The Tennis Committee has the power to close courts to Members for maintenance work or for special reasons such as hiring to local schools or other outside bodies. This also applies to the use of the clubhouse. However Members will be informed in advance by a notice on the notice board.

 

The last member to leave the artificial grass courts area must lock the gates for security purposes.

 

3) General Social Play is available at all times. The order of play shall be in systematic rotation.

 

However there are restrictions under the following circumstances and as per Regulation 4 below:-

 

a) Official Inter-club Matches (Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday evenings from April to August and re-arranged postponed matches)

 

b) Match Practice (Sunday 10.30 am to 2 pm from April to August) organised by any of the Ladies or Mens Team Captains.

 

During match practice the time is split:

10.30 – 12.30 Men (however there is a provision for ladies to take 1 court should they have 4 ladies within this time wishing to practice)

12.30 – 2.00 Ladies (however there is a provision for men to take 1 court should they have 4 men within this time wishing to practice)

c) Social Play organised by the Club Captain (Val Freeman) or in her absence by a Member of the Tennis Committee

 

4) Arranged Sets are allowed. Members wishing to use this facility need to book in advance with the Club Captain. The procedure is as follows:-

 

a) One court is available as designated by the Tennis Committee.

 

b) 24 hours notice must be given.

 

c) The set shall be one hour in duration.

 

d) Members may play on one occasion per week.

 

e) Arranged sets may take place on Sunday, Tuesday, and Friday after 6 pm and Saturday all day (except between 4 pm and 7 pm).

 

f) The names of those playing in the arranged set must be confirmed at the time of booking and the player who makes the booking will then confirm this by entering their names on the booking sheets on the notice board.

5) Ordinary and Student Members have priority over Intermediate, Junior and Country Members. However certain Intermediates and Juniors have Ordinary Membership Status as designated by the Tennis Committee.

On Monday evenings from May to mid-July, Juniors and Intermediates have priority over Ordinary and Student Membership.  

 

6) Any playing member may invite a guest to play; the former is responsible for the fee. The facility may be suspended if considered necessary by the Tennis Committee for play at peak times. No guests can play if members are waiting.

 

7) Club Policy on Tennis Kit

 

Social Play: Recognised tennis kit must be worn.

 

Inter-club Match Play: Recognised tennis kit must be worn.

 

Practice shirts may be worn for social play as long as they are recognisable as tennis attire. However practice shirts are not allowed to be worn for match play.

 

Members shall during play wear tennis shoes and no footwear with raised heels, spikes, studs, cleats, bars or deep ribbing are allowed.

 

Any Member of the Tennis Committee can require a player to leave a court if not suitably dressed.

 

Club Members inviting Guests to play are expected to inform them of the club policy on tennis kit. 

 

8) Food, chewing gum, glasses, glass bottles and cans are not allowed to be taken on the courts.

 

All items taken on to the courts must be removed when leaving.

 

Smoking is not allowed in the Clubhouse and on the courts.

 

Members are allowed to bring their children on to the premises. However such members shall be responsible for the welfare, supervision and control of their children.

 

Other than tennis, ball games are not allowed on the premises with the exception of primary aged school children using small soft footballs.

 

Dogs are not allowed on the premises.

 

Bicycles are not to be ridden on the premises and they are to be parked adjacent to the clubhouse.      

 

9) When leaving the premises, the last to leave must lock the gates for security purposes.
