OPEN TOURNAMENT REGULATIONS

1.
The matches are to be played in accordance with the Rules of Tennis, the Code of Conduct and East Wavertree LTC's clothing regulations.  Each event shall be played on the basis of the best of three sets.  The first two sets will use the tie break system which will apply at the score of six games all.  The third set if applicable will be an advantage set.  The Tennis Management Committee has appointed Ted Hulme to be the Tournament Referee with Jamie Semple to be the Assistant Referee.  Their responsibilities are to organise the Tournament on behalf of the members.

2.
Since the tournament is being organised on a continuous basis, the only official leave of absence is for holiday; therefore entrants must provide their holiday dates on the clubhouse holiday sheet in order to indicate their non-availability to their fellow competitors, to the organisers and to officially register their holiday.  It must be stressed to avoid any doubt that holiday is only recognised if indicated on the clubhouse holiday sheet.

3.
The upper player(s) is/are responsible for organising the match.  They must offer two reasonable alternative dates to the lower player(s) which must be before the completion date of each relevant round.  If none of these dates prove acceptable then the matter must be immediately referred to the Tournament Referee, Ted Hulme or Jamie Semple for adjudication.  The completion dates for each round are indicated on the tournament draw sheet for each individual event.  If the match has not been played by the completion date for each round and there has been no extension due to holidays or referral, then the lower player(s) will automatically receive a walkover by default with the result that the upper player(s) being eliminated from that tournament event. Similar to last season, we shall be applying a NO TOLERANCE stance.

4.
If any members have any tournament related queries, please contact Ted Hulme (07930-396644) or Jamie Semple (07580-332556) for assistance.

5.
The decision in any dispute by the Tournament Referee or his assistant is final.

HANDICAPPED TOURNAMENT REGULATIONS

1.
The Handicap Tournament Regulations are only applicable for Men's Singles and Men's Doubles Events.  The Mixed Doubles event shall be played as per Open Tournament Regulations.

2.
The matches are to be played in accordance with the Rules of Tennis, the Code of Conduct and East Wavertree LTC's clothing regulations.

5.
Handicaps shall be allotted by the Tournament Referee and shall not be changed after a competitor has played a round in the event, other than to correct serious errors in handicapping before the player involved plays a second match.  A walkover is not to be considered as a match played.

6.
Tie-breaks shall not be used in handicap events, but short sets are to be played in sets one and two.  A short set is decided when one player or pair has won six games, i.e. A SCORELINE OF 6-5 WINS THE FIRST OR SECOND SET, the third set will be an advantage set.

7.
For the purposes of calculating odds, each set shall be considered in terms of cycles of six games, so that the seventh game in the set is the first game of the second cycle of six games.  The start of each set shall be the start of a new cycle of six games.

8.
Matches shall be played at the difference between the two players handicaps.  If both players are to receive odds, or both to owe odds, the handicap of the player nearer scratch shall be adjusted to scratch, while the handicap of the other player shall be adjusted by a corresponding number of points.

Note
This is not a simple subtraction, eg. -70 vs -30 results in a net figure of -50 not -40, as -30 only represents 2 points.

9.
If there are any queries concerning handicapping, please contact Ted Hulme (07930-396644)
